Zip Projects
by Tim Gruchy & Terry Murphy
QPAC opening
1985
ZIP Projects was commissioned for the opening of QPAC, Queensland Performing Arts Complex in 1985 and staged in one of the buildings upper foyers. It was a dense multilayered piece utilising an array of regular and irregular screens within which the audience navigated. It was an abstracted response to the formal architectural space of the new centre and notions of audiences’ engagement with sound and vision outside the frameworks of the proscenium stage spaces which typified both the centre and the arts culture that drove it.
